HFFC "New Wave Center" Initiative

HFFC founded the New Wave Help Center/ La Nueva Ola in partnership with PRFI. The main purpose of this initiative is to help support the large migrating Puerto Rican community affected by the devastating effects of the Hurricane Maria. These families suffer the loss of their homes, their belongings, their jobs and in many cases they lost loved ones who could not endure the tragedy and devastation in the Island. The migration to the NYC area brings about the need to provide these families the essential care and services to help them transition to a stable and safe home. The New Wave Help Center, with the help of staff and volunteers, assisted all participants with health care services enrollment, housing referrals to partner agencies, food stamps aid, food vouchers redeemable at participating local supermarkets, clothing & coats, and much more.
